DERIVATIONAL AFFIXES IN MICHAEL JACKSON’S IMMORTAL AND DANGEROUS ALBUMS

The objectives of the study are to find out the types of derivational affixes using
Lieber’s theory (2009) and formations of the derivational affixes using Stekauer
and Lieber’s theory (2005) in Michael Jackson’s Immortal and Dangerous albums.
The research design in this study to interpret the types and formations in the
derivational affixes of the Michael Jackson’s Immortal and Dangerous albums. This
study used qualitative research method. The data and source of data is song lyrics
in the Immortal and Dangerous albums. The data collection downloading,
highlighting, displaying and listing on the song lyrics. The data analysis are
condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study in the
first problem for the types of derivational affixes found in Michael Jackson’s
Immortal and Dangerous albums, namely: prefixes, suffixes, infix and circumfixes.
To be more specific, there are (7) prefixes, (61) suffixes, (2) circumfixes and did
not found infix in the source of data. The results in the second problem also finding
4 formations of derivational affixes in Michael Jackson’s Immortal and Dangerous
albums, namely: noun formations, verb formations, adjective formations, and
adverb formations. To be more specifically, there are (23) noun formations, (6) verb
formations, (22) adjective formations, and (8) adverb formations. The purpose of
this research for find out the types and formations in the derivational affixes in
Immortal dan Dangerous albums.
