Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medan. 2025. This study analyzes the types and functions of associative meaning in Taylor Swift‟s Midnights Album based on Leech‟s theory (1983). This study aims to discover the types and functions of associative meaning in Taylor Swift‟s Midnights album. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method by Furida (2023). The data for the study were taken from the lyrics of Taylor Swift‟s Midnights album. There are 72 data of associative meaning types and functions found in 13 songs in Midnights album. The data analysis showed that five types and only three functions of associative meaning in Midnights album by Taylor Swift were found, which are connotative (16), social (1), affective (3), reflected (4), and collocative (12). Moreover, expressive function (20), directive (2), and aesthetic (14), where informational and phatic functions were not found.
