ABSTRACT

Charlotte:A Bridgerton Story: Feminisme Perspective. Department of

This study analyzes the struggles of women portrayed in the Netflix drama
series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story through the lens of intersectional
feminism, particularly using Bell Hooks’ theory. The objective of this research is
to identify and examine how women’s struggles and resistance are depicted
through the characters’ dialogues and actions within the series. The study employs
a qualitative descriptive method, using documentation techniques to collect and
analyze data from the drama script. The findings reveal that women in the series
face oppression in various forms, including restrictions on autonomy, reproductive
expectations, racial prejudice, and social exclusion. Despite their noble status,
characters such as Queen Charlotte and Lady Agatha Danbury are subjected to
systemic inequalities but demonstrate strong resistance and assertiveness against
patriarchal structures. The series highlights how gender, race, and class intersect
to shape the experiences of women in historical contexts. Ultimately, this research
emphasizes the importance of recognizing women’s struggles as multidimensional
and encourages a critical reading of media representations of gender inequality.
Keywords: women’s struggle, feminism, drama, bell hooks
