Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medan. 2025 This research aims to analyze the affixation in selected song lyrics from Maroon 5. The main focus of this research is on the types of affixation which include derivational and inflectional affixes. Derivational affixes are studied in two forms, namely class-changing which changes the word class, and class-maintaining which maintains the original word class. Meanwhile, the inflexional affixes analyzed include various forms such as plural, possessive, comparative, superlative, present, past, past participle, and present participle. The method used is descriptive qualitative with documentation technique in data collection. The result shows that Maroon 5 song lyrics contain various types of affixation which function to enrich the meaning and form grammatical structure in the lyrics. This study is expected to contribute to the development of morphological studies in the context of English language learning through music media.
