The study covers the Expressive Speech Acts in Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap movie by Bene Dion Rajagukguk. In this study, the focus is main characters’ throughout the movie.The main characters are divided into six groups, Pak Domu, Mak Domu, Domu, Gabe, Sarma, and Sahat. This objective of the study is to find out the types of expressive speech and function of expressive speech acts. The researcher uses pragmatic approach in conducting the research. The theory of Searle about the speech acts. The design of this research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative. The total number types of speech acts is 87 utterances, they are expressive of thanking, apologizing, congratulating, wishing, attitudes, and greeting. And the total number function of expressive speech acts is 87 utterances, they are showing gratitude, showing regret, appreciation, praising, condoling, showing acceptance, complaining, and criticizing.
