ABSTRACT Gea, Nency Angelita Putri. Word-formation of The Comparative and Superlative Degree of Adjectives in Nias Language in Soera Ni’amoni’õ. A Thesis. Department of Fakultas Sastra. Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medan 2024. This research aims to form comparative and superlative adjectives in the Nias language in the Soera Ni’amoni’õ. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The study applies Sidney E. Lang's theory in the book An Intermediate English Grammar (1912). Based on the research results, there are 31 data, consisting of 2 data in comparative form and 29 data in superlative form.The data is divided into 1 adjective that adds the suffix -er, 8 suffix -est, 14 adjectives that add the word most, 5 adjectives that end in -y, and 3 irregular adjectives found in the Soera Ni’amoni’õ in the Old Testament part of the Torah books and two types of adjectives were found in the Nias language, namely adjectives with one word and adjectives with two words. In the Nias language, the comparative degree form is formed by adding the word abõlõ before the adjective. Meanwhile, the superlative form is by adding the word sibai after the adjective.
