ABSTRACT Tambunan, Putri Yustika. Compound words in Jojo Moyes Novel Me Before You. A thesis. Department of English Language and Literature. Faculty of Letters. Universitas Methodist Indonesia. Medan. 2024. The objectives of the study are to find out the types based on Carstair-McCarthy (2002) theory and the meaning of compound words based on Katamba (1993) theory in Jojo Moyes novel Me Before You. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research are three types of compound words, namely compound nouns, compound verbs, compound adjectives and the resultof this research there are two meanings of compound words, namely endocentric and exocentric. The writer found that there were 30 data classified as compound nouns, 23 data classified as compound verbs, 14 data classified as compound adjectives. The meaning of compound words consists of 47 data which are broken down into Endocentric Compound Words and 21 data which are broken down into Exocentric Compound Words.
